Surname: Hubbard
-------------------------
One of my connections married David Hubbard and lived in Colorado Co TX
prior to the Civil War. Although I have nothing on this family, I see in
the Weimar History book, p 144/5/6, "Civil War Veterans" (buried in the
Weimar Cemetery)... lists "David Hubbard, killed in battle of Val Verde"
Also lists a T.P.Hubbard, Scout Webbs Company... and a C.G. Hubbard, Green's
Brigade.
In the "Nesbitt Memorial Library Journal" vol 7, no 2 (May 1997), p 81,
Bill Stein wrote (his sources are included) "...David A. Hubbard, a farmer
and former militia captain... were enrolled and named second lieutenants"
of Upton's Infantry company (CSA, 1861)..." (This David Hubbard was mar.
in Colorado Co to Malissa Ann Stewart, who came from GA ca 1850.)
Hubbard's entry in Stein's list of Colorado County men, their enlistments,
and some other records, same article, p 124: "Hubbard, David A (lieutenant)
farmer, aged 28 in 1860 (census); enrolled as lieutenant in Company A,
5th Texas Cavalry, on August 17, 1861 at Columbus: wounded in the head
at Valverde, February 21, 1862; died of wound in hospital at Socorro, February
27, 1862."
The foregoing is from some of my notes.
