Subject: [TXCOMAL] Update on Cemeteries in New Braunfels
Date: Mon, 3 Mar 2008 12:56:07 -0600

I am sending this update to the list because for some reason many of you are not getting the email, I think maybe because it is perceived as spam since there are now 87 people on the mailing list for the cemeteries. I will send it in smaller batches, so please excuse me if you end up with several copies in your in box.

Hi everyone,

Good news!

Just wanted to let you know that the Kruegers have offered to take our letters and speak to the City Council on both the old New Braunfels Cemetery and the Comal County Cemetery. Kathleen Krueger is the City Councilwoman of the district that contains the Comal Cemetery, and her husband Bob is a descendent of cemetery residents, as well as a former US Representative, Senator, and Ambassador.

I will be preparing a handout for the City Council on both cemeteries, including photos of existing problems, and requested changes in policy, based on the requests I have received. We haven't set a date yet, because we want to make sure our homework is done, and have gathered as many emails and letters of support as we can. A sample letter for all of you to write to the New Braunfels City Council is forthcoming.

I've been putting all my cemetery photos online at http://www.picturetrail.com/texas_cemeteries and will add a special album for our New Braunfels cemetery efforts.

For now, here is what you can do:

#1. Please forward this email to all of your relatives so we can continue to get as many emails and letters as possible for the Kruegers to take with them. It is very important that the City Council in New Braunfels understands that this concern over the cemeteries is shared by descendants everywhere, not just in New Braunfels. They can write to me at to be added to the mailing list.

#2. Read up on the Cemetery Commission and Friends of the Cemetery in neighboring San Marcos. http://www.ci.san-marcos.tx.us/departments/parks/Cemetery.htm We hope to get a Cemetery Commission re-established.

#3. Read up on the old New Braunfels Cemetery at
http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Etxcomal/nbcem.html .
We don't have a page for the Comal Cemetery yet, do you wanna help? ;-)

By now we have 87 email addresses. Thanks again for your support!
