Subject: emails needed TODAY & Monday to NB City Council
August 24, 2008
Dear Sarah,
Well, we have finally made it to the council agenda concerning the
establishment of a cemetery advisory board. This board will be under the
Park's Board as it is done the same in San Marcos.
I have been requested by Kathleen Krueger to get as many folks to write to
council members before tomorrow night's meeting. She asks that all
commentaries remain positive and that the writers request all council
members to vote in favor of establishing a new cemeteries board to protect
the Comal and New Braunfels Cemeteries. She also requested that writers
state the need to support the efforts of city council's appointed Cemetery
Committee who was charged with studying issues and making the recommendation
to set up a Cemetery Advisory Board to take charge of both historic sites,
making yearly reports and recommendations for preservation and improvements.
Please send this to all your friends concerned with cemetery issues
throughout the State.
Many Thanks,
David W. Hartmann
All I know is that I am subscribed to the City's mailing list and saw the
agenda last week which said:
Item 4(B) Discuss and consider action on forming a cemetery committee. S.
Laird, Parks and Recreation Director.
So I wrote a good luck note to David and he said what meeting?
David Hartmann is the New Braunfels Historic Landmark Commission Chair and a
Cemetery Committee member. Kathleen Krueger is the City Councilwoman in New
Braunfels most concerned about the fate of the cemeteries..
The City Council email addresses are:

This is the email I am sending:
My ancestors are buried in both New Braunfels Cemeteries. My family is no
longer living in New Braunfels but I am deeply concerned about the condition
of the old cemeteries. I was delighted to see the City Council establish a
Cemetery Committee that was charged with studying issues. The Cemetery
Committee has made the recommendation to set up a Cemetery Advisory Board to
take charge of both historic sites, making yearly reports and
recommendations for preservation and improvements.
I respectfully request all council members to vote in favor of establishing
a new Cemetery Board to protect the Comal and New Braunfels Cemeteries. I
would also like to suggest that they name David Hartmann the head of the
board, and include at least one member who has ancestors in the cemeteries
but does not live in New Braunfels, has a deep concern, and can attend board
meetings.
Sincerely,
Sarah Reveley
