That is the only place I have seen the story in Local information,
Though you certainly could do newspaper searches which would give more
info.
I have seen it I think in those old Frontier Times magazines written by
a Mr. Hunter in the 30's and 40's . Much of his work has been collected
in Books called Indian Depredations in Texas, Texas Trail drivers and
other such books. check with the main Texas sites and see if you have a
library near you with the set. If you live in the Fannin Co. area the
Sam Rayburn library has a set.
Mr. Hunter lived in the Texas Hill country and started a museum in
Bandera (where my folks were from). He collected stories back when many
people were still alive to tell them first hand.
Many many incidents in this area are recounted and I understand the
books are being compiled from the collections of stories and being
reprinted. Probably by the university press in Austin. Worth the
checking if you have a sensational story in your family tree in Texas.
