Sharon & Elaine:
You are BOTH doing an excellent job. Keep up the good work and you have my
thanks and gratitude for a job well done. Your messages give me that 'small
town' feeling I so dearly miss. I for one love it.

Cheryl Charles,
A small town girl living in the big city now,
all the time missing the small town feeling and people.

Subject: [TXGREGG] Postings

Hope everyone is having a great Thursday! Sharon & I have been getting
emails from some of you in reference to obits, etc. that we have posted.
It seems that some are thinking that because we post these obits, bios,
etc. that these folks are related to us in some way. We guess it has
been misleading, though that was not our intention. So, to keep any
further misunderstandings from happening here is the real story.

Sharon nor I either one are related to anyone that has been in Gregg
County at any time. We have no roots in or around Gregg County. We have
never done research in Gregg County before taking over the Gregg County
GenWeb site. We are posting this information in hopes it will help
someone find their Gregg County roots. As we run across an obit,
biography, will, deed, etc. we will post it to the Gregg County
GenConnect board. (Actually Sharon does all this posting....the
GenConnect board says I do not exist!) This is done strictly to help
Gregg County researchers, which we are not. Now I must admit, it would
be very nice to be doing research where I live. (Dream on Elaine!) But,
by doing research in other parts of the United States, we both realize
how difficult it is to find valuable bits and pieces of information from
the state/county we are trying to research. And we both believe that if
we give, we will get back. Actually we both felt like we already needed
to give back, so here we are! Also, please understand that we are both
as "green" as you can get in doing this.....so we are sure to make many
blunders along the way. A friendly kick in the can from time to time is
bound to be needed and will be accepted as graciously as two hard headed
southern ladies can manage. We are always open to suggestions, ways to
improve the website, we need more/less of hints, etc.

We try to do some look-ups when our time allows us to get to the
Longview library. We may not get to the library every week, but when we
go we will do what we have time for. The lookups are not done in any
order.....as we look at a census/book/schedule we go through the names
on the lookup list and check for them all. Anything we find that looks
close we report and you can decide if you can use it or not. As we get
more things online for you to search yourself, we will taper off on alot
of the lookups....since that is the material we are trying to slowly get
online for you. We don't run to the courthouse, etc. for you but will
sometime check out a cemetery if it is close. We are trying to read
cemeteries and hope to have most to all online for you to search in the
next year or so.

Now that I have rattled on and bored you to tears, I will say for myself
and for Sharon that we have enjoyed working with the Gregg County page
and all you nice folks. Happy hunting and we hope that you find some
needed and valuable information through the Gregg County GenWeb site!

Have a great weekend!
