Speaker: Lynnda Caddell Stephens
Program: "Genealogy Journey to My Heritage"
Lynnda Caddell Stephens is a native of Tyler, Smith County, Texas. She has spent the last twelve years researching her African American Heritage back eight generations to a slave named Tabby, born in 1787. She has traced her roots to the same tree that shaded the paths her enslaved ancestors walked in rural Rusk County.
Lynnda now resides in Longview, and is married to Andrew Stephens and has two daughters. She is a member of International Toastmasters, Friends of Genealogy, Editor of Caddell Family Newsletter, and is presently writing her family history book to be distributed to Libraries and Family Centers.
Her hobbies are writing manuscripts, reading, spending quality time with family, and planning special events.
Following a short refreshment period, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Computer Interest Group of the East Texas Genealogical Society will meet. Beverly Odom will present a program on "How To Access Courthouse Records When You Can't Go To The Courthouse".
East Texas Genealogical Society represent six counties which are Anderson, Gregg, Henderson, Panola, Rusk and Smith counties. ETGS publishes the East Texas Family Records four times a year and a monthly newsletter The Bulletin.
