Thanks so much for taking the time to help with my Vines folks. Tracking Hattie's family back has been a challenge.
I've got these folks in the 1870 Cobb co. GA census. In this census I find Hattie's parents before her birth and an Evans Vine age 43 with three children. These three children are in the Gregg co. TX 1880 census listed as children of J.W. and R.A. Vines [ancestry has them indexed as Imes]. I'm not sure if these children belong to James and Rachel or to Evans Vine. I was hoping to find the marriage for James and Rachel which would help me determine if these older children belong to Evan or to James and Rachel.
And my real quest is figuring out how my greatgreatgrandfather Lucian Jerome Evans fits into this family. My greatuncle (grandson of Lucian) remembers "Aunt Hattie" visiting from Houston when he was a child and he remembers them talking about "Grandma Vines". The Homer Evans living with Hattie (Vines) West in the 1900 Harris co. Tx census is the oldest son of Lucian.
