Subject: sad news about the courthouse museum

Lies and innuendo, spread by the opponents of the Bond Election to save the
courthouse, resulted in the failure of the election - by 47 votes. It's a
sad day for Harrison County.
The County Commissioners will meet on Friday to decide the next step. The
County Judge had made repeated statements that he would lock and bolt the
doors on the building, to restrict public access, if the bond election
failed.
In the worst case scenario, we will have a month to vacate the premises, but
first we will have to find a place to house all the artifacts that have been
donated to the museum over the years, as well as the books and genealogical
materials we have. What this means for the researcher is that our
volunteers may be unable to answer any requests for quite some time, since
we will be involved in moving our resources - that is, if we can find a
location.
I will keep you posted on the future of genealogy research in Harrison
County.
