Samuel T. Scott was an early settlers of Harrison Co., TX. This deed,
recorded in Sumter District [now Sumter Co.] SC, links Cason Scott to his Samuel
T. Scott, although it does not specify the relationship. Samuel's brother,
W.D. Scott is one of the witnesses.

Sumter District Know all men by these presents that I Cason Scott of the
State and district aforesaid in consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid
by Samuel Scott the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have granted
bargained sold and released unto Samuel Scott of this District and State aforesaid
all that piece or pacrel of land containing one hundred and fifty acres by
the same more or less being part of a three hundred acre tract originally
granted to John Collins the third day of October 1786 and hath such forms (?)
marked and shaped as a plat hereunto more fully represents wich land was
conveyed by William Langley to Wyat Collins the 24th day of Sept 1791from thence
from Wyat (?) Collins to Cason Scott lying and being on the ... of the waters of
McGirt's Branch waters of Black River Together with all and singular rights
...ber hereditaments appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any
wise incident appertaining to have and to hold all and singular the premises
before mentioned unto the sd Samuel Scott his heirs and assigns against myself
and the remainder of my heirs and against all other persons whosoever
dutifully claimng the same or any part thereof--Witness my hand and seal this 28th
day of November eighteen hundred and fifteen - Signed Sealed and delivered in
presence of us

Sumter District Personally appeared Whitman Owens who being duly sworm
deposeth that he saw Cason Scott sign seal and deliver the written deed for the
uses therein mentioned and that he and W. Dixon Scott witnessed the due
execution thereof. Sworn to this 9th day of March 1816 before me
Jesse Peebles J. P. Whitman Owens
