The present courthouse was built in the winter of 1913/spring 1914
it is the 4th courthouse of HC.
The third was condemned, it was cracking.
The second was made out of lumber, it was the one that burned, however the
records were kept in a separate brick building housing the County Clerk's
office.
The first was built out of logs.

I called the Historical Commission office, Jewell said there are records there
if anyone wants to know dates.

Also she said to mention that when the Clerks office says there are records
downstairs it means right there IN THAT ROOM off to the right, there are
stairs. She said they would tell people "downstairs" and they would walk the
3 flights of stairs to the Historical Commission office that was there, and
the people would have to go back up.
