Daniel Layton married Mary Pope 10 Mar 1837 Cumberland NC from the pilot.familysearch.org website.
"Huemer-Coli Family Tree" says James Kelly Layton born 1849 Neshoba Co MS was son of Daniel Layton and Mary Pope.
There is documented evidence that the Layton's that wound up in Lamar County was the same family from Neshoba Co MS. Martha M Robertson was probably Martha M Layton; found 4 of the Robertson children's marriages in Lamar county who were in Bayou Metoe, Pulaski Co AR in 1880.
Mary E Layton Chancellor is noted as being buried in Lamar county in 1896 and her spouse died in Roxton, Lamar Co in 1920 and their two sons died in Lamar county.

James Layton born 29 Oct 1849 died in Seattle, King Co WA 03 Feb 1947 buried Mt Pleasant Cemetery in Seattle 08 Feb 1947. What information is on his death certificate ? In 1882 he married Mary E born Arkansas Jan 1854 they had no children. Mary's father reported to be from Indiana and mother from Tennessee. Mary E Unknown Layton died before 1910 as James is therafter listed as widower 1910 -1930. James K Layton was a shoemaker.
Was he the same James Layton that was in Ellis Co TX in 1880 wife Calian born MS 1852 and children born MS including Daniel Layton in 1878.

At somepoint in time M J unknown Chancelor had given birth to two children whom did not survive. In 1910 M J Chancellor said she had one living child and they were listed next to Joseph John and Dora Layton family.
