Below is an appeal from Sharon Spencer concerning Tex Share Funding by the Texas Legislature.
She suggests contacting our State legislators and asking their support for the funding.
Heritage Quest is a website that contains US census records online.
Pro Quest who owns Heritage Quest has newspapers, biogrpahies and obituaries available online Sanborn Fire Maps are online ALL free and available online (as long as it lasts) from your home computer and courtesy of TexShare funding through the Texas State Library.




The TexShare databases are in jeopardy courtesy of the conference budget committee leaders who are wanting to further reduce funding for that resource. The current budget level is $20M/biennium, and the level to only sustain as is would be $12.1M/biennium per the Texas State Library. The committee is looking at cutting that in half which will, in effect, gut the TexShare Databases. The effect to genealogists would be drastic as the Heritage Quest/ProQuest database is one component of the TexShare Databases. Many other databases would be effected as well which are used by students, professional individuals, and residents all across the state who would be unable to obtain information otherwise. Having access to these databases via the internet at their local library makes possible acquisition of information many people simply would not be able to get otherwise.
