Jost

Graveside services for John R. Jost, 78, of Salty were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. Calvin Springer officiating.

Mr. Jost died Saturday, Aug. 31, in Rockdale.

A lifelong resident of Salty, he was born Jan. 3, 1924, in Salty to William F. and Lena (Berndt) Jost. He attended school at Gay Hill and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Jost was a carpenter.

Preceding him in death were a brother, William Arthur Jost; a stepdaughter, Sharon Elaine Anness Eurbanek; and his parents, William F. and Lena Jost.

Survivors are his wife, Sylvia Jost of Rockdale; two stepsons, Buell Clark Anness of Bruceville-Eddy and Patrick Michael Anness of Rockdale; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Anness of Houston; also, a close friend, Roger (Sonny) Scruggs and wife, Betty of the Shiloh community.
