Anthis

Services for Florine Anthis, 82, of Caddo Mills, formerly of Houston, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Bobby Jones of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Minerva officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Anthis died Saturday, Dec. 27, at her home in Caddo Mills where she lived for the past month.

A homemaker, she was born April 6, 1921, in Rockdale to Henry T. and Stella Jane (Davenport) Burgess.

She married Isaac Johnnie Anthis Sr. on Sept. 16, 1937, in Rockdale.

Mrs. Anthis was a member of the Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were a daughter, Patricia Ann Anthis, at birth; her husband on July 19, 1970; her parents; three brothers, Woodrow Burgess, Lenon Burgess and William T. Burgess; three sisters, Gertrude Powell, Blanche Vinton and Velma Davenport; and two infant sisters

Survivors are two sons, William Henry Anthis and wife Joyce of Somerville, and Johnny Anthis Jr. and wife Lacresha of Houston; a daughter, Peggy J. Jenkins and husband Larry of Caddo Mills; two sisters, Gladys Belt and Myrtle Ford, both of Milano; also, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her nephews.
