ELEANOR McLERRAN DeLANCEY passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2004. she was 86 years old.
Eleanor was born on July 22, 1918 in Milam County, Texas to Casca Jackson McLerran and Irene Addison McLerran.
She is preceeded in death by her parents and her loving daughter, Loma Megan Delancey.
Eleanor is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles J. DeLancey and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Eleanor graduated from Baylor University, Waco, Texas in 1938 with a double major in Journalism and Spanish. She took her first job in Brownsville. TX and later moved to Burbank, CA to work at the Disney Studio. While in California she met her future husband, Charles.
Eleanor also served in the WAF during World War II.
Eleanor was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Koinonia Sunday School Class. She taught for over 20 years in the Tallowood English Learning League, an activity which brought her much pleasure.
She was also a member of the Delphian - Past President's Club, Baylor University Women's Association of Houston, the Houston Photochrome Club, Sunday concert patron at the Houston Symphony, Members of the Medallion Society, Endowed Scholarship Society and The President's Club at Baylor University.
Mrs. DeLancey and her family have traveled around the world including trips with Baylor University.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Ruby Stewart and Olarii Adelesi for their love and companionship over the past year.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov 5 at Little River Baptist Church in Jones Prairie, near Cameron, Texas at 1 p.m. Larry Bertrand officiating. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Drive, at 1 p.m. with. Dr. Robert B. Sloan and Dr. Duane Brooks, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Eleanor McLerran DeLancey may be Sent to Baylor University, One Bear Place #97050, Waco, TX 76798.
