I have sent a cc of this e-mail to GREG KOUBA who is a Deputy with the Milam Co. Sheriff's Dept. ... he researches and writes the history of the Milam Co. officers who have died in the line of duty ....

Officer Murdock is probably buried in the IOOF Cemetery or Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale ...

Hopefully Greg can confirm burial location and I'm asking him to volunteer to go out and get a photo of the grave for you ...

You might also e-mail the LUCY HILL PATTERSON MEMORIAL LIBRARY in Rockdale as they have all Milam Co. newspapers on microfilm ...

... you might ask them to check the microfilm for that time-period to see if there were any local newspaper articles in the ROCKDALE REPORTER and/or CAMERON HERALD newspapers ... they have a microfilm printer and they might be able to make copies of any articles for you which might indicuate local connection and why he was buried in Rockdale ...

Officer Murdock was shot and killed in Houston IN THE LINE OF DUTY. He was shot on 6/21/1921 and died on 6/27/1921. I am interested in locating his gravesite in order to hopefully place a specially made gravemarker in honor of the sacrifice he made. Obituary in a Houston paper listed his place of burial in Rockdale, Texas. His place of birth was Bryan, Texas. His father was J.H. Murdock, born in Texas, and his mother was Eller Stokes Murdock, born in Alabama. He was buried on or about 6/28-6/30/1921.

I write stories about these men's DEATH IN THE LINE OF DUTY and any information you can give me or any direction you can point me would be appreciated.
