Billy Ray Dent, 70, of Hearne died Aug. 26 at his home. Funeral services were held Aug. 29 at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Hearne with Roy Dent, Paul Jackson and Don Hay officiating. Burial followed at Norwood Cemetery.

Dent was born April 18, 1936 in Ennis to Vernon Ray and Eleanor (Pilgrim) Dent.

He and was a foreman for G.A.T.X. He was a member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge 361 and a member of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Marianna Persch Dent of Hearne; sons, Todd and wife, Connie, Dent of Cameron and Craig Dent of Gause; daughters, Denise and husband, Scott, Evan of Cameron and Jennifer and husband, Peter, King of Cypress; brother, Roy and wife, Linda, Dent of Abilene; sisters, Sally and husband, Bill, McWain of Brookeville, OH and Verna and husband, Earl, Chumley of Weir, MS; 10 grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the Bill Dent Grandchildren's College Scholarship Fund, c/o First State Bank-Hearne, Franklin, Calvert and Bremond Branches
