Hi All,

Just a short note to announce that the members of East Texas Genealogical Society have ordered the 1850 census images from S-K Publications for Anderson, Henderson, Panola and Rusk counties. Through the generosity of S-K Publications these images will be placed in each county's archives. From the archives, any one with internet access will be able to view these images free of charge. The census film is being ordered and then will be scanned. I believe that the images will be up within the next couple of months. I will post a note when they are up to see.

The members of ETGS have done this for Smith County for the 1850 to 1920 censuses and have placed a down payment to order the 1930 census. To view the Smith County census images you can go to:

http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/smith/census.html

Sharon Pierce and Elaine Martin also did this for Gregg County's 1880 census:

To see information about S-K Publications, go to:

Our goal will be to have all of the images of the census up for each county ETGS represents - Anderson, Gregg, Henderson, Panola, Rusk & Smith. We have nearly reached this goal for Smith County and now have made a start for the other counties.

If you would like to help or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Scott Fitzgerald -
President of ETGS
