He was one of my high school teachers at Skyline HS in Dallas, in the early
1970s, andI believe a native Texan. He just might have some answers for
you.

During the middle to late 1800's (approximately 1879), my ancestors lived in
the town of Omen, Smith County. There names were Cain and Martha Louiza
Lowrance.

On the 1860 Federal Census for Smith County, I found the following
Lowrance's/Lorance's:


Lorance, McD22 Feb 1823 19 Sep 1884
Lorance, Mary E.17 Jan 1829 11 Jan 1906 (Wife of Mc D)
Lorance, Quincy D.1857 1937
Lorance, Emma1857 1927
Lorance, Susie Bell9 Aug 1885 21 Jan 1896 (Daughter of Q.D. & Emma)
Lorance, Mac D.

I do not know if my Lowrances were related to the above Lorance's, but there
is a very good chance that they were.

My Lowrance's were from McNairey County, TN and before that they lived in
NC.

Sometime during the late 1880's, they moved to Kerrville, TX.

If anyone has information about these Lorance's/Lowrance's, I would enjoy
hearing from you.
