Regarding "Patrick CONNOR died 20 Jan 1870 in East Bernard, Wharton Co.,
TX".... I would suggest that you go to the Wharton County Courthouse in
the City of Wharton and ask to see the "Old" deaths book. This book, which
is occasionally kept in the same area as the standard format books covering
dates after 1903, is also sometimes kept with archived material in another
location within the courthouse. Not all of the Vital statistics workers in
the courthouse are aware of its existance.
I have been able to find some records from around 1898 - 1900 in this
hand-written book. I am not certain that it goes back as far as 1870,
however.
