William J. Jones (b. abt. 1820 AL)and wife Nancy A. (b. abt 1825 AL) are in
Wood County in 1880, unknown in 1870, in Smith Co in 1860 and unknown in
Alabama in 1850. William and Nancy are the right age, from the right place,
are living in the right places at the right times to be the father and
mother of Elizabeth Jones Clewis(b. abt. 1839 AL.), my gggrandmother. She
reportedly died about 1905 during a flu epidemic. She went to Wood County
from her home in Rains County to care for her brother who was gravely ill.
He recovered. She took sick on the way home and went to the home of some
folks she knew, where she died. She is supposed to be buried in Sand Flats
cemetery in an unmarked grave.
Any info would be appreciated.
