Just today I got some precise details of a Finnish cousin, Knut Armas
Jaalinoja, who sailed on two occasions from Finland to Canada - with
ultimate destinations in the U.S.
On his first trip, he left Finland on August 4, 1909 on the ship Titania
and continued from England on August 12, 1909 with Laurentic (White Star
Line). The destination was Hancock, Michigan and the destination port
Quebec. Ticket price was 64 US$.
The second time he left on September 10, 1913 aboard Arcturus and
continued from England on September 17 aboard Corsican to Port Arthur,
Canada. Ticket price was 314 Finnish Marks.
The only information I didn't get was which port the steamers left from,
in Finland and England, and when they arrived in Canada. Could someone
please direct me to the relevant sources of information?
Thanks very much,
Nicholas Minns
