Hugh Dobbins was married to Nancy Ann Moore and lived in Caswell
County,NC. However, he was involved in the slave trade and owned a sloop
in Baltimore Port, Maryland.
When he died in 1797 he had just moved to Tennessee and in his will he
said his sloop was to be sold. It was commanded by Captain Johnson
Messick of New York. Can anyone tell me where I might get more info on
this sloop?
I think possible he may have had family connections in Baltimore to have
lived so far away and had a sloop there. Any input will be appreciated
