In tracing our ancestors backwards we have hit a brick wall at a date of =
death in 1809, of John Paul Epling, although we know some of his =
children were born in the 1780's in Giles County Virginia. We also have =
an early narative account that states that the Eplings moved from what =
is now Bavaria to Holland in 1442 and from Holland to Newfort, Virginia =
in 1667. Does anyone have any passenger lists that show the name Epling =
in or around that year. Alternate spellings known to have been used were =
Ebeling, Epplinga, Eplang, Ablang and about a dozen similar other =
spellings, although the first two are the most likely. I'm hoping if we =
can find this information we may be able to trace forward from there. =
Also, John Paul was known to use Miller as an AKA. There may have been =
Miller's on the same ship, although at a century remove this is probably =
grasping at straws. Thanks for any help you can give.
