I hope you saw the great article on Deaths at Sea etc, previously posted by
someone knowledgeable on the American routine.

I do not know the British Routine, but I can you that at P.R.O.Kew I made an
ote in 1991 that there was such a Class Headed "Foreign Register of Births,
Marriages & Deaths on Ships", I would surmise it was in a Class "RG".

I have in my time, seen Ships Logs where the Master quite clearly has logged
such incidents, no doubt if he sails into a Foreign Port he would also
report same but the information would I assume be extracted from his log
when returning to his Home Port.

Just reading through some other papers it is suggested that BMD at Sea
between 1854 and 1890 maysometimes be found in BT153-160 (Registrar General
of Shipping and Seamen
