Gidday All,

What is a "Packet" ?

I have a letter written by my 3Gr Grandfather, (A Landing Surveyor at The
Customs in Bristol), to his son Captain James HILL (my 2G Grandfather) who
was about to sail out on a voyage in 1832 possibly to Jamaica, West Indies.
He requested his son to send him some money and clothes that he (the father)
would send to his brother who was in dire need of such goods for his family,
they would be sent on by "Packet" sailing out from Bristol.
