Some recently discovered correspondence said that my GGrandfather,
Norman Nicolson, along with two brothers and two sisters, emigrated to
Prince Edward Island, departing Loch Mig on 8-8-1837 on the Barque
MIDLOTHIAN, 414 tons, Commanded by Captain Morrison with 256
passengers. It said that they were accompanied by 10 other Nicolson
families who were forced from their croft at Culnacnoc, Isle of Skye,
Scotland.

While searching Dave Hunter's Island Register on PEI ship arrivals (a
great site), I found; 8-8-1837, The Brig Midlothian, 414 tons, Captain
Morrison

Further research lead me to the Transactions of the Gaelic Society of
Inverness, Vol 55 (1986-88) which showed: 7-8-37, Midlothian, 414
tons, departed Skye (Snizort) and arrived in Australia on 12-12-37
with 256 passengers.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to further my search?
Thank you!

Donald Nicholson
