Hello, Listers,

James Edward Fisher was born 1 January, 1795, 'on the Irish Sea', aboard
a ship which left Bristol, England, probably in late 1794. The ship
apparently stopped for water at Halifax, Nova Scotia, and at this point
the Fisher family left the ship, eventually settling in the Colchester
County area of Nova Scotia, Canada.

James Edward was my GGgrandfather. I have found no other information
about his origin or parentage and have no name for the sailing vessel.
I'm guessing that the ship was bound for the Eastern Coast of the USA.

The scanty information which I have given above is from Jack F. Layton's
book, "The Heirs of Francis Layton". James Edward Fisher married Mary
Ausborne Layton in 1822 in Nova Scotia. They had fourteen children and
many settled in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

With hope and regards,

Elizabeth Fisher Tambeau
