Subject: [TSL] Ships' news from the MAINE FARMER
Date: Thu, 8 Apr 1999 22:03:25 EDT
Yesterday in the gen. section of my local library (continuing my search for
Lucy Ann LANE's movements from her birth in Maine c. 1835 to her death in
Minn. early this century) I ran across a new book with some interesting
miscellany. The Book is ABSTRACTS OF DEATH NOTICES AND MISC. NEWS ARTICLES
FROM THE "MAINE FARMER" by Young and Keene, Heritage Books, 1-800-398-7709. I
think this begins about 1830. There are a couple of pages of ship references
in the back, including a few nates regarding wrecks, seamen lost, etc.
Thought it might be a possibility for those of us who have reached dead ends
finding arrivals for vessels, esp. where our family members were working
aboard.
If you are interested in this book, you might want to contact your local
library to ask them to order it -- it does appear to be very much in print.
This is all the information I have on this book and topic.
