Hello Sue

In your mail you used two terms:
_The manifest_
_The Passenger manifest_
Do the two above terms mean exactly the same, or do they mean something
different?
Reason for my question is I was told that there were one passenger list
established in the port of departure where passengers embarked, and another
made by the Canadian authorities at the port of disembarkation. The latter
should have more extensive and accurate information about the passengers. I
presume the Swiggum passenger lists are the ones made by the Canadian
authorities?
Also I wonder if it happened that Canad. port-/immigration authorities made
brief notes about the different loads of passengers, like how many would
stay in Canada, how many were transits to USA; would they go on by ship or
rail etc. and if such information can be found in the archives along with
the manifests?
I'm searching for clues how to trace passenger that went on from Quebec,
either somewhere in Canada or on to USA.
Sincerely
Hans Jacob Enhuus
