Kimberly,

What you mention about the possibility to get the passengers lists going to
Argentina thru CEMLA, is correct, but you have to pay u$s 10 for each person
you want to get information and if they found it they will send you a
certificate.

As this is an Institution sponsored by the Agnelli Foundation from Italy,
you can obtain the same information for free from the following website:

http://italians-world.org/Italy/BancaDatiGb.htm

You will have to subscribe "free" (Do this with Internet Explorer for the
first time, after subscribing you will also have the possibility to use
Netscape- the site is quite difficult to navigate sometimes). You will also
have passenger list for Brasil and USA. You can choose from English, Italian
or Spanish.

The following is an example of the data you can get from the website & the
CEMLA certificate:

Cognome: BERTONE
Nome: ACHILLE
Parentela: X
Età: 24
Sesso: M
Stato civile: Celibe/Nubile
Professione: AGRICULTOR
Religione: Cattolico
Porto d'imbarco: GENOVA
Nave: NORD AMERICA
Data d'arrivo: 10-01-1899
Istruzione: Sa
Classe: Terza
Legenda
età: 800=sconosciuta; 900=bimbo nato
a bordo; 901-911=bimbo di età
compresa tra 1 e 11 mesi.
istruzione: sa=sa leggere e scrivere; non
sa=non sa leggere e scrivere
Altri campi: U, X, D=dato sconosciuto

Hope this will help

Jorge
