Sharyn,

I am not certain if this is your ship, but there was a TEXAN built in 1883
by Harland & Wolff, Belfast for the West India & Pacific SS Co which traded
mostly to the West Indies and Central America. This was a 3,257 gross ton
steamer, one funnel, two masts and was taken over with the fleet by
Frederick Leyland & Co in 1900.
I don't know if she ever sailed to Australia, but a possibility!
