Hi again Jdueis,
Hmmm The HEKLA I departed Norway 12th May 1882 and although we don't have
the New York arrival date for that sailing on the SS&A, it would have been
about 14 days.

I suggest you begin searching for them on the Digitalarkivet
Beginning with the Digitalarkivet
http://www.hist.uib.no/arkivverket/index-en.htm
First click - source categories
.. next click - emigrants
.. next click - registers ... you will then see a list of ports/dates
listed on the right ..
They would (should) have sailed from Christiania. The early 1880s records
are a bit chopped up between two databases, and I'm not sure if they are
even complete yet. Experiment with names a bit. They may be listed as
Sørensen rather than using Dad's patronym, or they may even been using a
farm-name ;-} (hunting Norwegians is fun) For ø character, hold down
the Alt key and type 0248 on the number pad on the right of your keyboard.
Dad's patronym might be Siversen/Seversen/Syversen but try
Sivertsen/Syvertsen too but when searching the above database, choose
instead "starts with" instead of the full last name and just type Siv or
Sev for example. It takes a little practise, but it is very "user
friendly." (ps. try different years)
Good luck!
Sue
