Married Rose (Rosa) Modaffari Born 1896 Died 1937.
I heard that Peter came to America, went back to Italy got married and they
both came back to America, Rose did not like it here and they went back to
Italy and then came back to America to stay. I understand that the store
was opened around 1912.
Peter and Rose had seven children.

Spent an hour for fun on the Ellis Island site and found this family! Here
are their arrivals:
Pietro Serena arrived 26 Feb 1904 on the ROMA from Naples; single aged 23
labourer (altered from "countryman") from Reggio Calabria; going to cousin
Giovanni Neri, Box 280 Englewood "New York" [there is missing link to this
manifest on the Ellis Is site but you can reach it on
http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/mm.htm by entering Series T715 Roll
432 Frame 78]
Rosa Modafferi arrived 19 Jul 1905 on the ITALIA from Naples; single aged 19
housekeeper from Reggio Calabria; going to sister & brother, Francesca &
Guiseppe, at 29 Broadway, Nyack NY
Then they appear together arriving 17 Oct 1913 on the IVERNIA from Messina:
Pietro Sireno aged 32 married labourer from Reggio
Rosa Modaffari sireno aged 27 domestic
Giovanna Sireno aged 4
Guiseppe Sireno aged "5"
Elena Sireno aged 6months
only the parents had been in the US before - in "1903"
all going to "patron", Wilbur Thomas, Otel Paliserd (?), Englewood NY
interestingly they arrived with:
Francesco Modaffari aged 62 merchant
Giovanna Pratico Modaffari aged 63 domestic
Vittoria Modaffari aged 19 domestic
all from Gallina and going to Francesco's son Pietro Modaffari, 55 Humphery
St, Englewood NY
Guiditta Pratico aged 18 married domestic, from Gallina (daughter of
Antonino Pratico, Gallina) going to her husband Nicola Modaffari, also at 55
Humphery St, Englewood [there are other families going to this address -
presumably some kind of Italian hostel?].
There seems to be some confusion over Englewood - although the writing is
variable, the references do seem to be NY rather than NJ.
