Hi Heather:
In an effort to induce you to follow the earlier advice of Sue and Lorine, I
will augment their advice as follows:
NRP Bonsor, in his excellent multi-volume work entitled "North Atlantic
Seaway" shows two ships named TUNISIAN transporting immigrants across those
waters to either Canada or the US. One of them was the Allan Line's ship
which operated from 1900 to 1921; the second one was owned by Canadian
Pacific and it operated from 1907 to 1922. Since you are interested in a
1904 voyage you obviously are interested in the Allan Line ship.
The "Morton Allan Directory of European Passenger Steamship Arrivals" fails
to show the TUNISIAN of the Allan line as being one of their ships that
called at the US ports of New York, Philadelphia, Boston, or Philadelphia.
Thus, to me, it looks like Sue has already pointed you to the correct
voyage, which arrived Halifax, Nova Scotia on 1904-04-23 and
St. John, New Brunswick 1904-04-24. If your ancestor was destined for
Wisconsin, then he probably had railroad connections from one of those two
ports through Montreal, and might very well appear in the St. Albans VT
arrival lists. Those lists are available on microfilm accessible at your
nearest Mormon Family History Center and maybe at your local public library,
depending on how active a genealogical section the latter has. Lorine has
earlier advised you of the link to discover the identifying information for
the correct microfilm.
Here's hoping you find the above helpful. Good luck in your research.
Fritz
