Hi Gerry
I'm not sure if this is what you want, but if you click on the
name of the ship (SEA OF NEW YORK) on Ancestry.com you can view
the entire list of names of passengers.
If you want to see the original microfilmed list, you will have
to get the film from either NARA or a Family History Centre
To view a list of film numbers for 1847 see
http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/filmnos_newyork.shtml
The year you need hasn't been indexed but since you already
have a date, a ship name and a passenger name you should be
able to find what you want in "Passenger Lists of Vessels
Arriving at New York, NY, 1820--1897"
Scroll to the date of your ship (Sept 13, 1847) and make note
of the NARA film number.
The staff of the National Archives will undertake a search
of the original records for a fee but you must know the name
of the ship, the date of arrival, and the port of arrival.
To obtain a search request form, write to: General Reference
Branch (NNRG), National Archives and Records Administration,
7th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20408 and
request NATF Form 81, Order for Copies of Ship Passenger
Arrival Records.
You can also get the ship on FHC - for film numbers go to
http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/filmnos_newyork.shtml and
scroll down to "FHC Film Equivalents to NARA M261 & NARA M237"
Then you can order the film in to your nearest FHC. To find
your nearest FHC you can go to
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp
Good luck!
