Hi List,

I've just subscribed to this list and this is my first enquiry. I'm
researching a distant relative - Capt Gavin Charles GOUDIE, formerly of
Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He was born 1902 and died 1966. He married a
Kitty (?) b: after 1900, and had issue at least one daughter, Leila
Goudie b: after 1923. I have in my possession a photo of him and another
officer on board a ship with the following hand written on the back:

"Gavin C Goudie
Captain
MV Tuscan Star
5th December 1947
Melbourne"

and his business card that has the following printed on it:

"Capt. Gavin C. Goudie, O.B.E.
SS Auckland Star
Blue Star Line"

I also have an enamelled ashtray with his signature printed upon it
supposedly from his ships cabin.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this Capt Gavin Charles Goudie, the
time frame when he was captain of both ships, ship details, any others
he may have served on, when the OBE award was bestowed on him and for
what service did he receive it?

Any help greatly appreciated.
