Most ship wrecks were covered by the press so you might want to have a look
at period newspapers. According to the wrecks info on
http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/Wrecks/wrecks19thc.html
the Hungarian (Allan Line vessel on the way to Portland, Maine) is listed
for 1860.
