EMIGRATION FROM THE HIGHLANDS

The noblemen, chiefs, and heritors of the highlands and islands of Scotland, are still pusuing their purpose of promoting and establishing a systematic emigration from their over-burdened estates to Canada. At the Highland Society's meeting they came to a resolution to make Canada ALONE the sphere of their exertions, from its proximity, and being so well adapated for the removal of entire families to it. They are in correspondence with the government at this time, deputations are appointed to have interviews with the colonial minister, Dr Rolph from Upper Canada, is acting with the committee, who meet at th e Brunswick Hotel, Jermyn-street, and petitions will be shortly presented to both houses of parliament on the subject, the one to the H osue of Lords by the Duke of Argyll- that to the House of Commons by Major Cambpell of Islay.
