Subject: [TSL] Havre Arrival NYC 1884
Date: Wed, 5 Nov 2003 21:20:04 -0600

Researching two families who immigrated from Switzerland to NYC via Havre on
the Normandie in 1884. Have actual dates of arrival from one source but
would like to further verify. Can anyone direct me to passenger lists in
order to verify the information? Also, on reading the New York Times
"Maritime Intelligence" for the dates in question, I find a list of ships
arrivals, including the Normandie, along with "Havre 9 ds., with mdse. and
passengers to Louis De Bebian." Assume the mdse. means merchandise, but what
does "9 ds." mean, and is the "Louis De Bebian" the company they hauled the
merchandise for? Appreciate any feedback. These travelers processed through
Castle Garden.
