Hi ShipListers,

Today is the 6th birthday of Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild and we are
celebrating. We have over 6,000 passenger lists online now and are well on our
way to 7,000.

Our birthday gift to all our visitors is that we are opening up our mailing
list to the public. You can visit our main page at immigrantships.net and read
the Captain's Log which will tell you how to subscribe if you wish.

We are not doing this to complete with any other lists but we hope you'll
join and share your tips with us. It will give you the opportunity to meet our
volunteers and to actually participate in deciphering some difficult scans from
time to time.

As some of you may know, we got our humble beginning right here on the
ShipsList and we are grateful to all of you, Sue in particular who has always been
one of our most loyal supporters.

So raise your glass today (whatever may be in it) to the all the wonderful
volunteers of ISTG and to the members of the ShipsList for assisting in our
birth process.
