"Sandie" <> posted: I am looking for any
details or direction regarding the PHIELENA BATH, which sailed from
Liverpool about May 10, 1850 and reached New York, about June 8, 1850.
I know my HITCHCOCK ancestors were on board; I would like to find
further details about the ship itself.
I have not found any reference to a ship called Phielena Bath;
I wonder where Sandie found the name.
A ship named Philena is listed on the Magellan site (seven arrivals)
but I have found no details. It is possible the Philena was owned or
built at Bath, Maine (this is only a suggestion).
My line of approach would be to find a major library with the
New York Herald for 1850 on microfilm and check the details of the
arrival, including the name and type of the vessel.
