I am researching my great-grandfather Martin KROLL. He arrived at the
Port of New York on 18 Jul 1887 aboard the Rhaetia,
under the name of Martin JENSEN 15 (mothers' name, maiden or married name?)
and traveling with a cousin, Anton JENSEN 17.
Anna Wilhelmine "Minnie" JENSEN (Martin's mother) arrived in the US in
1881.
She married a John August KROLL (also arrived in 1881)
11 Aug 1881 in Newton, KS. Martin JENSEN took the name of KROLL sometime
after arriving in Newton, KS. Apparently he was
not legally adopted, as he was not claimed as a son or step-son in August
Kroll's obituary!
Anyway, I am looking for any arrival information, such as a newspaper
article or whatever. I'm sure it's been mentioned before
on this list, but how would I find a mention of this voyage or it's arrival
in a newspaper of this date?
