Can you help me find information about British merchant Marine vessels
that sailed from England to Suez, around the Cape of Good Hope, in 1942.
More specifically I am trying to reconstruct my family's exodus from France
to South Africa and then to Palestine in 1942. Around July or August of 1942
the family (we were three adults and two children) found berths on a British
merchant Marine Vessel that took us from Lisbon to Capetown. Eventually ,in
late November/December 1942, they boarded another British Merchant vessel in
Durban which took them to Suez. The cargo it was carrying was TNT to supply
Montgomery's army.
If you can provide me with any information that would help me learn more
about British Merchant ships that took on civilian passengers from Lisbon
to Capetown, and also ones from Durban that went on to Suez in that
period, I'd be very grateful.
