I went to Steve Morse's one-step pages and found your ship listed for 1854
http://www.stevemorse.org/
Castle Garden Ship Lists: Searching for Ships in the Castle Garden
Microfilms in One Step
http://www.stevemorse.org/ellis/boat2.html
Series Roll Nbr Year Month Day Frame Ship
Port FHL roll
M237 144 1095 1854 August 17 312 John H Ryerson Antwerp,
Belgium 0175500
The ship name is a hyper-link, but you need an Ancestry subscription to
proceed to the manifest itself. Steve Morse has given us some wonderful
tools to be able to search those records, in just minutes.
I searched TheShipsList archives ...
TheShipsList Searchable Archives Database
http://www.oulton.com/cwa/newsships.nsf/by+date
TheShipsList RootsWeb Archives
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/TheShipsList/
and just typed Ryerson and found several hits (some the name of a
person) but saw in 1999 another person was asking about the same ship for
1858. Gilbert Provost . . .
Register of Ships 1764-2001 - Lloyd's Register of British and Foreign Shipping
http://www.reach.net/%7Esc001198/
. . responded and said he could not find it listed in Lloyds. You may be
able to find at least minimal information in the New York Times
....? (eg. rigging, tonnage, name of master)
