Hi Angus,
This was the ALSTON, 3,955 gross tons, cargo steamer built 1903 by J.
Priestmen & Co, Sunderland for Webster & Barraclough, West Hartlepool. 1918
sold to Britain SS Co (Watts, Watts & Co), London. 1919 sold to Sir William
Garthwaite, London. 1921 Marine Navigation Co of Canada (Wm. Garthwaite),
Montreal. 1923 sold to Hamaguchi Kisen Kaisha, Amagasaki, Japan renamed
KINOENE MARU. 26th July 1917 sunk by German submarine UC.27 off Korea.

Webster & Barraclough was a tramp steamer company which went out of business
in 1918.
