Thank you Marj for the details ...

Perhaps as they would have been on board the day before they were on the
ship for nearly 3 weeks and the tale doubled the time ..

Another possibility is that their total journey was 6 weeks .. They started
from near Forfar in Scotland and went on from New York to somewhere in
Massachusetts before settling a year later in Nova Scotia.

Raises more questions ... Like ...
Will it be possible to find passenger lists for their sea crossing to NS?
