Subject: [TSL] fire on Salamander

Dear Sirs, i am wondering if you can help or point me in the right direction.
i am searching for further detail of a merchant ships fire.
thee vessel in question was The Salamander, vessel no 21837; owned by
Newson Garrett of Lowestoft. the fire took place on 9 Feb 1858; the
ships register was destroyed in the fire, butt would seem the vessel
was not destroyed, it would appear to have been re registered on
February 1859 or there about.
while i have discovered crew lists for the vessel in 1868 (at Ipswich
Record Office, i am trying to locate the crew list for this vessel at
the time of the fire.
one problem is the ships list which gives the detail above, does not
identify where the vessel was at the time of the fire. i do not know
if it was in dock, or at sea.
any advice or help would be much appreciated.
