Hello Listers,

After a long absence and accumulated 'rust', I'm back with a question.

I live on land that was owned from 1866 to 1904 by Thomas BREEN, a native of
Ireland born in about 1826. I think he came to Canada with his wife, Ellen
Murphy Breen (b. IRE abt 1835), shortly before purchasing the property. I
don't see him in 1861 Canada Census.

Thomas Breen was a farmer, owning more than 100 acres of land in the village
of York Mills (purchased in 1866), part of York County in Canada West
(Ontario). All records I've found are associated with that location. He
was successful, and retired a Gentleman. The section of his land that I
live on was an orchard; and I look after one remaining, ancient apple tree

I think Thomas and Ellen Breen came to Canada between 1861 and 1866,
traveling from Ireland. They had enough money to travel comfortably, and
I'm guessing they came directly and not through a U.S. port. How can I find
the record of their journey, the boat, and possibly a location in Ireland?

Thanks for your help in directing me.
