Hi!!
I'm new to the list. I am searching for two families that sprung from nowhere (in Germany). One is the Gein family. They emigrated from Germany in 1868, according to census records. They lived for awhile in Illinois before 2 sisters, Dora and Lizzie, moved with Dora's husband, Adolf Aschoff, to Oregon.

The other family is the Helms/Von Helms family - not from North Carolina. They also came from Germany, in 1864, and arrived in Texas. 3 brothers split up (or at least my ancestor split away from them and he was only 14-15). My ancestor, Hans Henry Von Helms worked in San Francisco for awhile before moving to Oregon.

If any of this sounds familiar, I'd love to hear from you!
